Day 8

Officially the week mark! Hallelujah! And on a Sunday no less enjoying amazing fellowship at an amazing church! Afterwards, went out to lunch with a new friend :) God is so so good and I can't wait to see what he has in store for the week!

The Psalms for today expresses how I feel on this dreary day!
"1 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
Your glory is higher than the heavens.
2 You have taught children and infants
      to tell of your strength,
   silencing your enemies
      and all who oppose you.
3 When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—
the moon and the stars you set in place—
4 what are mere mortals that you should think about them,
human beings that you should care for them?
5 Yet you made them only a little lower than God
and crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You gave them charge of everything you made,
putting all things under their authority—
7 the flocks and the herds
      and all the wild animals,
8 the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea,
and everything that swims the ocean currents.
9 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!"
Psalm 8:1-9

How are we worthy of this love? How do we deserve a man to endure death on a cross for our sins? Guess what! He did! And that's the most amazing, wonderful, and glorious news. God saves the righteous! God saves those who accept Jesus and God saves us and forgives us because HE LOVES US! Praise you, Father!! This kind of segues into the story from Genesis today about Lot. Abraham asked the Lord if there were righteous men in Soddom if he would destroy it, and the Lord said no. Even though God KNEW what Lot's daughters would do, he saved Lot anyways because Lot was faithful and righteous. Lot's wife was not, therefore she turned into a pillar of salt. One of Lot's daughters child became what are known as the "Moabites"--Ruth's people. Coincidence? No... The Moabites were awful, evil, pagans... God saved Lot even though he knew what was to come.

God saves us even though he knows every fault, every sin, every plank in our eye. All he asks is to live our lives in service and reflection of him! "Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you." Matthew 7:12. But the road to salvation and living a godly life requires sacrifice,  as I have mentioned before. Today's reading also said, "You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. 14 But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it." Matthew 7:13-14. Why do we always look for the easiest route, the fastest way to get from point A to point B. Have you ever wanted to take the back roads and avoid the interstate? It might take you to some amazing places, see amazing things, and meet amazing people!

To get to KU, you can take the 45 (75 in Dallas) and it turns into another Interstate... But did you know that 59 goes to Kansas and beyond? My dad says not to take it because it goes through these little towns and leads you in different ways, but why not? Life isn't about getting from point A to point B, it's about enjoying the journey in between. When I have learned to just stop and take a look around at my journey, and really don't worry about just getting there, I have found the tiny road that leads me to Jesus. He is in the garden (in my head) just waiting for me... He has embraced  me with open arms and showed me flowers more beautiful than I have ever seen, and has truly opened my eyes to this world I have never before witnessed. It just takes some rest, it takes courage and it takes a yearning to find this path.

The path to this kind of love and this fervor for Jesus may be narrow, but reading His word leads us straight to it. It's the road map to his Kingdom and when you find it, it's just this burning and fire that consumes you!

Praise God!!!

God Bless,
Lauren
